Artist of the Geneva/Swiss and French ragga scenes, Charly B is also known as the “Black Defenda”. Talented composer , writer and singer, the musical inspiration of Charly B originates from his roots. Born in 1981 in Italy, from French, German and Armenian origins, married to a Jamaican wife, Charly B has been confronted to many musical styles, from classical music to reggae and other musical influences. Among the reggae influences: Bob Marley, Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Anthony B, Capleton, Bounty Killa, Sean Paul.
Charly B fell in love with Jamaica and the reggae after spending a whole year at Iona High School, St. Mary, Jamaica, at the age of 16, and returning to live there 3 years after finishing his studies of sound techniques in Canada. He has his own style that nobody can imitate.
In 2002, he wins the Contest for best Singjay in Geneva (Reggae contest organized BY DJ Postman), in 2005 he wins the first price for best singjay for Switzerland (Reggae Swiss Singjay Contest – Giddeon Production) and in 2007, he is candidate for Switzerland for Eurovision Contest 2007 with song O Mama.
